I wanted to experiment with painting with watercolors on canvas, I also am looking more and more into incorporating graphic elements in my paintings and am particularly inspired by zentangles.
Here are the steps I took.
I first did a rough outline of my drawing with pencil on canvas
Then I prepared a light green wash for the background
As my wash is still wet I will sprinkle some alcohol to add textures
I am fixing the background with gel medium
I am then starting to paint the foliage letting the colors mix wet into wet.
I also am painting the trunks wet in wet
I then start zentangling on the trunks. I did choose designs that had a signification related to trees.
I find the trees color to be too pink and blue, so I am adding a wash of green so the color scheme works better for me.
I did zentangle the lower part of the painting with foliage related designs
